Yemenis stage anti-Saudi protest in Sana’a

quote:
Yemeni people have staged a large demonstration in front of the United Nations’ headquarters in the capital of Sana’a to protest against Saudi Arabia’s aggression against their country, Press TV reports.

The protesters condemned on Monday the Saudi military campaign and also slammed the air and sea blockade on Yemen, which prevents the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

“We have come to the UN headquarters to denounce Saudi Arabia’s continued airstrikes that have mostly targeted civilians. Such attacks do not target a specific group as they claim," said protester (pictured below), adding, “It is a genocidal war against a poor people.”

“Yemenis are facing a crime against humanity. Saudi Arabia is preventing deliveries of basic food accommodation, fuel and medicine,” said protester (pictured below), adding, “It is a shame on the world to keep silent on such atrocities committed against civilians.”

The demonstration came after dozens were killed and many others injured after Saudi jets targeted the Wadi Bani area and the al-Saddah district in the western province of Ibb on early Monday.

Meanwhile, the popular committees, loyal to Ansurallah fighters, have made major advances especially in the province of Ma'rib, which has been described by observers as the last stronghold of al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Saudi Arabia launched its war against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh. The strikes came in the wake of advances by Yemeni revolutionary forces, backed by Ansarullah fighters.

On April 21, Riyadh announced the end of the first phase of its military operation, but airstrikes have continued with Saudi bombers targeting different areas across the country in a new phase.

The Saudis claim the airstrikes only target military positions. However, reports show civilians and infrastructure in civilian areas are being attacked.

In a recent report, Human Rights Watch said evidence shows Saudi Arabia has used cluster munitions in the northern province of Sa’ada over the past weeks.

The Saudi military campaign has reportedly claimed the lives of over 1,000 people, including women and children, so far and injured thousands more.

Saudi war on Yemen has failed: Hezbollah chief
quote:
Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, says the Al Saud regime has failed to achieve its goals in its brutal military aggression against the Yemeni nation.

“Tell me about a single objective that has been achieved. Has Saudi Arabia restored the so-called legitimacy in Yemen? Has it managed to prevent the expansion of the Yemeni army and popular committees? Has it confiscated the arms of Ansarullah? Has it been able to return [former fugitive Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh] Mansur Hadi to his country?” Nasrallah asked in a televised address on the latest developments in the region on Tuesday.

Riyadh launched its military aggression against its southern neighbor on March 26 - without a United Nations mandate - in a bid to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to Hadi, a staunch ally of Saudis.

The Hezbollah chief rejected as lies the Riyadh regime’s claims of victory in the war on Yemen, asking, “Do Arab citizens accept such deception and misinformation? As an Arab citizen I want information about the objectives that were allegedly realized.”

He further said the Saudi kingdom seeks to gain dominance over Yemen by launching a bloody war on the neighboring nation, saying, “Have they managed to achieve their real objective by restoring their hegemony over Yemen?”

He lauded Yemeni people’s resistance against the Saudi aggression, saying Riyadh could not weaken the Yemenis.

“We are before a clear and obvious Saudi failure and a clear Yemeni victory. This is the result of the firmness and steadfastness of the Yemenis,” the Hezbollah chief said.

Recent reports also show Saudis have used cluster munitions in the northern province of Sa’ada.

The attacks have so far killed over 1,200 Yemenis, including many women and children, and injured thousands of others.

Riyadh declared the end of “Decisive Storm” operation against Yemen and announced the beginning of a new phase dubbed “Operation Restoring Hope.”

“The launch of Operation Renewal of Hope was an attempt to cover up for the failure of the first round of the war against Yemen,” he stressed.

He further criticized Saudi Arabia and its backers in the aggression against Yemen for their hypocrisy in the war and blocking humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

“They claimed that they want to fight terrorism but they are offering arms to al-Qaeda and bombing the popular committees to prevent them from reaching the regions where al-Qaida is operating. They have prevented any humanitarian aid from reaching Yemen,” he stressed.
Nasrallah added that the main reason behind the assault on Yemen is “that Saudi Arabia is seeking hegemony.”

He further praised the victories by Yemeni people, calling on the international community to step up efforts to help the Yemenis.

“The world has a responsibility to confront this aggression's repercussions at the humanitarian level,” the Hezbollah chief added, condemning Saudi Arabia’s bombing of Yemeni and destroying the infrastructure of the country.

He said, “Exerting pressure by killing children and women is a futile policy.”

S. Arabia Stunned by Ansarullah’s Simultaneous Fight against Al-Qaeda, ISIL
quote:
Ansarullah’s military power to stand in two fronts against the al-Qaeda and ISIL terrorist groups has stunned Saudi Arabia, one of the movement’s leaders said on Monday.

Jaber Ahmad al-Nuaimi referred to the Saturday grenade attacks against the positions of ISIL Takfiri terrorists in several parts of Yemen, and told FNA that “these attacks show that the resistance and Ansarullah are present everywhere and despite its tight engagement in suppressing the terrorists and pro-Hadi militias, Ansarullah is ready for confrontation against the Saudi aggression with open eyes and resistance.”

“Ansarullah’s operations have been successful in obtaining all objectives in a way that several positions of the ISIL and pro-Hadi militias have been destroyed,” he added.

Nuaimi underlined that different parts of Yemen can become a scene of popular forces’ tough confrontation against the al-Qaeda or ISIL terrorists at any moment.

His remarks came as the Ansarullah fighters along with army units made fresh advances in the Southern Yemeni province of Aden on Sunday, killing large groups of Saudi-backed terrorists and militias.

The Ansarullah popular fighters made progress in several areas of Tawahi district in Aden and inflicted heavy casualties on al-Qaeda terrorists and pro-Hadi militants.

Also, Ansarullah leaders announced on Sunday the seizure of a large number of Saudi tanks and missiles sent to the Al-Qaeda and pro-Hadi forces in Yemen.

“Saudi Arabia has been sending weapons to the terrorists since months before starting the military aggression against Yemen,” Ali Mohsen al-Buraimi told FNA.

“With the help of the army and revolutionary committees, Ansarullah seized several trucks carrying weapons through the Saudi-Yemeni land border,” he added.

Buraimi said that the arms cargo included tens of missiles, tanks and even helicopters which were to be used by the terrorists and the militia supporting the fugitive president Mansour Hadi.

“Saudi Arabia is the source of terrorism and a supporter of terrorists in Yemen, but the Yemeni nation will stand against this aggression,” he added.

Also on Friday, Ansarullah revolutionaries announced the seizure of a Saudi surveillance drone in the province of Sa’ada.

The Ansarullah revolutionaries captured the drone, which had parachute landed due to a technical fault, while patrolling the area on Friday.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 40 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 3,163 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

On April 21, the monarchy declared end to Yemen airstrikes after five weeks of bombings, but airstrikes are still underway.

Yemeni Tribes Out of Patience with Saudi Aggression
quote:
The Yemeni tribes can no more bear the Saudi aggression and the imposed siege against their country, a leader warned on Monday.

“The Yemeni nation and tribes will no more show patience about the aggression and the siege imposed by Saudi Arabia and its allies,” tribal and religious leader Sheikh Ali Sanan al-Qouli was quoted as saying by the Yemeni news agency Khabar on Monday.

“We condemn this crime of the Saudis that no wise or even criminal person would commit. Yemen’s nation and its important tribes have always turned Yemen into a grave for the aggressors all throughout the history,” he added.

Qouli called on Riyadh to stop its illogical acts, and warned, “The Yemeni nation has not and will not allow anyone to occupy even an inch of its homeland.”

In a relevant statement in April, the Political Council of Ansarullah Movement condemned the Saudi-led coalition’s continued airstrikes on Yemen, and warned Riyadh officials of Yemen’s crushing response.

Ansarullah urged the Saudi officials to reconsider their policies towards Yemen, or wait for their decisive military response.

“We do not need missiles to stand against the Saudis’ aggression,” the Yemeni revolutionary movement said.

Saudi Arabia launched its bombing campaign against Yemen on March 26 in an attempt to restore power to fugitive President Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

According to FNA tallies, the Monarchy’s attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 3,612 civilians, mostly women and children.

According to a February 2015 Newsweek report, Houthis are fighting "for things that all Yemenis crave: government accountability, the end to corruption, regular utilities, fair fuel prices, job opportunities for ordinary Yemenis and the end of Western influence."[58]

In an interview with Yemen Times, Hussein Al-Bukhari, a Houthi insider said that Houthis' preferable political system is a republic with elections where women can also hold political positions, and that they do not seek to form a cleric-led government after the model of Islamic Republic of Iran for "we cannot apply this system in Yemen because the followers of the Shafi [Sunni] doctrine are bigger in number than the Zaydis."[59] Ali Akbar Velayati, International Affairs Advisor to Supreme Iranian Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated in October 2014 that "We are hopeful that Ansar-Allah has the same role in Yemen as Hezbollah has in eradicating the terrorists in Lebanon".[60]
