Asmir Begović (Trebinje, 20 juni 1987) is een Bosnisch-Canadees voetbaldoelman. Hij staat sinds 2010 onder contract bij Stoke City. Hij komt ook uit voor het Bosnisch voetbalelftal.

Asmir Begović kwam op 16-jarige leeftijd bij Portsmouth terecht. In 2005 werd hij een half jaar aan La Louvière uitgeleend. Nadien werd hij nog uitgeleend aan Macclesfield Town, Bournemouth, Yeovil Town en Ipswich Town. Op 1 februari 2010 tekende hij een contract voor 3,5 jaar bij Stoke City. Hij maakte zijn debuut voor The Potters op 25 april 2010 tegen Chelsea. Hij viel na 35 minuten in voor de geblesseerde Thomas Sørensen. Op 1 mei 2010 hield hij tegen Everton voor het eerst de nul op het scorebord. Op 30 oktober 2011 verving Begović opnieuw de geblesseerde Thomas Sørensen tegen Everton. Sindsdien is hij eerste keus van manager Tony Pulis.
Interlandcarrière
Canada
Begović kwam uit voor Canada -20 op het WK -20 in Canada in 2007. In november 2008 werd hij voor het Canadees voetbalelftal opgeroepen, maar hij zat 90 minuten op de bank in een WK-kwalificatiewedstrijd tegen Jamaica.
Bosnië
Op 21 augustus 2009 ging Begović in op een oproep van het Bosnisch voetbalelftal. Hij speelde niet in de WK-kwalificatiewedstrijden tegen Armenië en Turkije. Hij maakte zijn debuut in de volgende kwalificatiewedstrijd tegen Estland. Hij verving Kenan Hasagić in de 92e minuut, nadat Bosnië al met 2-0 voorstond.

Asmir Begovic has had interest from Manchester United
MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up a summer bid to prise Asmir Begovic away from Stoke after missing him in the January window.
The Bosnian has been on Sir Alex Ferguson’s wish list for some time, as he seeks to find a decent shot stopper for David de Gea, who has failed to convince his manager that he deserves to be handed the No1 jersey on a permanent basis.
Stoke were given a timely boost in the winter window, when Begovic said that he would be staying with the club.
The Potters signed Birmingham keeper Jack Butland on deadline day, and he could provide Begovic with stiff competition when he joins at the end of the season.
However, according to the International Business Times, Begovic will seal a £9m switch to Old Trafford in the summer.
They also suggest that Tony Pulis was reluctant to let Begovic go in January without finding a proper replacement for him.
Begovic has started 24 Barclays Premier League games this campaign, and has kept nine clean sheets.
He joined Stoke from Portsmouth in 2010 for £3.25m.
