Motorcrosser Glenn Coldenhoff heeft optimaal geprofiteerd van de afwezigheid van zijn geblesseerde landgenoot en wereldkampioen Jeffrey Herlings. De MX2-rijder uit het Brabantse Heesch verraste zondag met de zege in de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië. .

Coldenhoff eindigde op het circuit van Matterley Bassin als derde in de eerste manche en werd vierde in de tweede. De 38 punten die hij daarmee vergaarde waren precies genoeg om de Brit Jake Nicholls en de Spanjaard Jose Butron voor te blijven in de daguitslag. Het was Coldenhoffs eerste GP-zege.

De Italiaan Antonio Cairoli stelde als verwacht de wereldtitel in de MX1 veilig. Hij had aan de winst in de eerste heat genoeg om één grand prix voor het einde van het seizoen zijn vijfde achtereenvolgende wereldtitel in de koningsklasse te veroveren.

Coldenhoff's verrassende GP zege in Winchester


Butrón was met een 5de en 2de plaats de virtuele GP winnaar maar werd ingehaald door Febvre waardoor Nicholls met een 2de en 6de plaats de GP virtueel gewonnen had. Coldenhoff moest Tixier voorbij om met een 3de en 4de plaats een GP overwinning te behalen. Hij ging Tixier in de 17de ronde voorbij maar Tixier moest wel voor Nicholls blijven en Butrón mocht Febvre niet inhalen...


Herlings in for MXoN and Lierop?

News on the weekend that Jeffrey Herlings has told KTM that he might be ok for Lierop and the MXoN afterall. Seems that the young dutchman has recovered well from the shoulder injury and has given some thought to racing in Lierop and the MXoN. If this is the case its great news for the Motocross public. Both countryman Glenn Coldenhoff and Red Bull KTM team-mate Antonio Cairoli mentioned also that Herlings looks like he might race afterall.

4 tot 6 weken maar een sporter hersteld vaak sneller en de dokter had al gezegd dat het ook in 3 weken kan genezen.

Hij hoeft de ONK en MXoN niet te missen maar Lierop is misschien net te vroeg?

Samenwerking KNMV en Living for the Weekend

De film Living for the Weekend trekt steeds meer partners aan. Naast Pro-X, Twin Air en HGS Exhaust Systems is ook de Koninklijke Nederlandse Motorrijders Vereniging dermate enthousiast geraakt over het initiatief dat het tot een samenwerking is gekomen.

Nick Janssen en Jean-Paul Maas zijn bijzonder verheugd dat er zo positief wordt gereageerd op hun filmidee. Jean-Paul licht toe: “De film is bedoeld voor jong en oud en ook aantrekkelijk voor publiek dat normaal niet naar de motorcross gaat. Living for the Weekend is een prachtige kans om mensen te enthousiasmeren over motorcross. Het 105 minuten durende verhaal geeft ook de mensen die nog niet begaan zijn met de sport een indruk van wat de sport vandaag de dag inhoudt. Natuurlijk speelt ook de KNMV een rol.

De film gaat over emotie en passie voor de sport en de lange weg naar de top. Iets wat perfect past in de gedachtegang van de KNMV, maar ook waar de KNMV een bijdrage aan levert, zowel op het gebied van de breedte- als de topsport. Verder is de KNMV een ideale partner voor ons als filmproducenten en een ambassadeur richting potentiële bezoekers. KNMV-leden hebben immers al een motorsporthart en ook hen willen we uiteraard bereiken met onze film”. Nick Janssen vult aan: “We hebben ervoor gekozen om in de steden waar we draaien één datum in te plannen waarop we alle zalen van het bioscoopcomplex beschikbaar stellen voor onze film. Zie het als een avondje uit met het gezin, de vriendengroep, een motorclub of als unieke gelegenheid om je waardering te laten blijken aan klanten, relaties of sponsoren.”

Herlings en Coldenhoff
Living for the Weekend volgt zeven coureurs in hun strijd om de wereldtitel in het WK MX2 en MX1. Van Nederlandse zijde worden Jeffrey Herlings en Glenn Coldenhoff zowel op de cross als thuis en tijdens hun trainingen vastgelegd. Beide heren zijn ook fan van het project én de eregasten tijdens de premičre in Den Bosch op 21 oktober. Naast de huidige toppers wordt ook Henk van Mierlo als zijnde ex-GP-coureur en winnaar van de Ben Majoortrofee in beeld gebracht. Archiefbeelden schetsen een prachtig beeld van Henks actieve carričre van toen en zijn nog immer grote passie als fan.

Ik ging er eigenlijk wel vanuit dat hij Lierop niet weer wilde missen maar misschien was het beter geweest om bij het ONK weer mee te doen.

Van de andere kant hij heeft groen licht gekregen van de dokter en hij kan vanaf 30 september een maand of 3 bijkomen.

Coldenhoff tekent bij fabrieksteam van Suzuki

The Grand Prix of Benelux this weekend will be the final step for the current structure of the Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe motocross effort with the German crew set to undergo revised organisation for 2014 and a future that will see Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff ride the RM-Z250.

The renewed initiative for next season will see Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe retain its name and continue with exciting and excellent potential in FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship racing and the European EMX125 and EMX85 categories with RM-Z250 and RM125 and RM85 motorcycles. And the technical set-up will enjoy increased co-operation with GRP (Geboers Racing Promotions) to carry forth the 'factory backed' label outside of the MX1 class.

To tackle the future in MX2 at Grand Prix level the team are pleased to be able to count on the services of Dutch talent Coldenhoff, recent winner of the British Grand Prix and a rider who has burst to prominence with his first podiums and pole positions in 2013. He will be backed-up by Belgian Julien Lieber, who has recovered from a knee ligament injury, and will head into the off-season 100% fit to prepare effectively for the 18-round 2014 term.

Alongside in MX2 will be Swiss racer Jeremy Seewer; who will extend his long association with Suzuki. Seewer, who has made several impressive wild-card appearances in Grand Prix in 2012 and 2013, is still in contention for the European EMX250 title this season - the last outing coming this weekend at Lierop - and has won two of the seven rounds to-date. The EMX250 contest is the feeder class to Grand Prix and is run as part of the support programme at FIM World Championship events. It is on this beneficial European platform for development and evolution that Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe will again support the teenage forces of Brian Hsu (owner of a podium finish in EMX125 in just his first campaign on the larger bike this year) and Italian 85 champion Gianluca Facchetti on the RM85.

"To continue our project in the best way and to maintain Suzuki's presence at the top level in several important racing categories, this was a great move and I'm happy we could do it with the great support of Rockstar Energy, Bischof Logistik and Ortema," said Team Manager Thomas Ramsbacher. "We are pleased that Glenn has seen what we want to achieve with our MX2 programme and that we can field racers like Julien, Jeremy, Brian and Gianluca as they go on with their career development with decent results so far. Overall we can look very optimistically to the future."


The sand of Lierop will be a capable stage for current rider Max Anstie to sign-off his tenure with the team and bag some overdue silverware this weekend. The Brit celebrated a podium appearance at the same circuit in 2012 and his technical ability is a formidable asset on the shifting and incredibly bumpy terrain. Seewer faces a crucial decider in the EMX250 competition and needs to score 13 points more than Valentin Guillod to deny his countryman the title. Jorge Zaragoza will also close his season on the RM-Z250 and Hsu will hope to confirm a final top-10 position in the EMX125 standings and needs just two points to make it into the lead group.

31ste GP overwinning voor Herlings, ongeslagen in Lierop en Valkenswaard

Als Coldenhoff niet zoveel pech had gekend dit jaar dan had hij wel vaker op het podium kunnen staan.

Suzuki doet het prima in de MX1 met Strijbos en Desalle en ook in Amerika met Millsaps, Wharton en Jason Anderson dus waarom ook niet in de MX2? Lieber is vaak geblesseerd geweest maar Anstie is 10de geworden in het WK.

Ik denk dat Herlings de MoN wel zal rijden maar hij geeft zelf aan dat hij niet fit is, hij kan nog wat ritme opdoen in Lichtenvoorde over 2 weken.
