Bevindingen van de Japanse versie.quote:I've sunk quite a chunk of time into this weekend, and I'm fully in love with Persona again.
Basically they've eradicated every little niggle people had about the game. In the same vein as choosing inherited skills which I mentioned earlier, they've made the whole fusing process so much more user friendly. For starters there are little symbols that show you if the new persona is already in your compendium, or if it's eligible for the fusion forecast bonus. Best of all though, there's a new fusion mode that eliminates all the randomness of fusion by actually showing you every persona you are able to fuse from your current party, and each combination that can be used to create it.
They've done similarly excellent things with the shuffle time mini-game. It's not random any more, and each card's effect is clearly explained before you choose it. Even the cards which previously punished you are now more like double edged swords; they have an effect you might want, like turning one other card into a persona card, or skill card, at the cost of 50% exp, for example. Another nice thing they do is label the persona cards as new if you haven't obtained that persona yet, and colour the card red if you have a higher level version already in your compendium.
The skill card system is another new thing. You can obtain skill cards by picking the sword card in shuffle time. This gives you a random skill card (so far I've gotten level 1 and 2 cards only, which directly corresponded to the number on the sword card - though I don't know how high the tiers go) but basically, it's a card with a random spell, like zio or bufu. You can either use them on a persona straight away (I don't think there's any limit on what personae can or cannot learn), or you can register them in the velvet room with the new character Marie (using the card up), and then from that point you can buy infinite copies from Marie to teach persona those spells whenever.
It's so ace. So so ace.

For some context, before the Nintendo 3DS received its price cut to $170 and just days after its US launch the then $250 handheld had sold 1.41 million units more than the Vita's current lifetime sales. As of September 2011 (one month after the price drop), the 3DS was at 6.68 million units sold worldwide or more than triple where the Vita's selling at right now. "Yikes" is the word we'd use to describe that situation.
