Theon vind ik een stomme verhaallijn. Niet echt geloofwaardig om mensen uit je naaste omgeving op zo'n manier te verraden, zelfs niet voor middeleeuws-achtige begrippen.
Dat is
"The Old Way".
En omdat te kunnen begrijpen moet je echt een stukje achtergrond van de Greyjoys kennen. In de serie is het kort aangestipt, maar het boek gaat dieper in detail.

Hij wil er álles aan doen om zijn vader aan te tonen dat hij een echte Greyjoy is die leeft volgens
"The Old Way".
Maar aan de andere kant is Theon praktisch opgegroeid in Winterfell onder de vleugel van Eddard Stark. Hij is met de normen en waarden grootgebracht zoals die gebruikelijk zijn op het vasteland van Westeros, waar hij waarschijnlijk zelf ook in geloofd, maar wat veracht wordt op de Iron Islands ('soft green ways').
