Sensational debuteerde met de befaamde Jungle Brothers in 1993. Zijn lo-fi knip en plak hiphop zal ook in 2012 de wenkbrauwen doen fronsen maar hij is en blijft een fascinerende artiest. Samen met Koyxeи aka Kouhei Matsunaga aka NHK (maakte met Sensational een plaat op Skam) en DJ Scotch Egg onder z'n nieuwe dekmantel Scotch Bonnet, hebben we een super cool avant-hiphop team staan deze avond. R'dam's FFF en Etten-Leur's Frietboer sluiten aan. Een must voor liefhebbers van avontuurlijke beats, hiphop, breaks en electronica.

Sensational (formerly Torture) debuted with the famous Jungle Brothers in 1993, then busted out a strong solo with 1997's Loaded With Power, a maverick, lo-fi piece of speaker wrecking bass, chest-caving beats, and gruff, marble-mouthed self-aggrandizement. Fast forward to 2012 and his lo-fi cut & paste hiphop might still be frowned upon by conservative genre purists but he remains a fascinating artist in a league of his own.

The new solo project of Shigeru Ishihara, aka DJ Scotch Egg. Swapping Gameboys and 8-bit limitation for a hefty distortion unit, Ishihara delves deep into the world of bass-driven hiphop breaks. DJ Scotch Bonnet melds dense distorted beats with his signature pop sensibility, referencing Scorn, NHK and the dance music culture of new home-town, Berlin.
Ishihara has collaborated with E-Da (ex Boredoms) in epic psychedelic outfit DRUM EYES; works with Bo Ningen's Taigen Kawabe, and Dokkebi Q's Gorgonn in dub distortion unit DEVILMAN and also plays bass in newly reformed electronic pioneers SEEFEEL.

KOYXEN

Koyxeи is one of the many aliases of Kouhei Matsunaga, intended especially as his off-kilter hiphop/breakbeat outlet with vocalists. Based between his native Osaka and Berlin, Matsunaga has produced an impressive backcatalogue and has worked closely with Conrad Schnitzler, Merzbow, Mika Vainio, Asmus Tietchens, Sean Booth (Autechre), Mr Maloke (Puppetmastaz), etc. He continues to makes big waves with his brilliant electronica.

FRIETBOER

Frietboer (Thijs van den Bosch) is a prolific and promising Dutch DIY hiphop producer. The Frietboer sound which he christened 'boombapcore' boasts an equal love for hiphop, distortion and fat beats.
