The car is set to take part in a roll-out around New Year before an extensive test schedule takes place ahead of the Le Mans 24 Hours, with outings also planned for several rounds of the new FIA World Endurance Championship.
No drivers have yet been mentioned for the programme.
“Toyota Motor Corporation has entered Le Mans before but by using our hybrid technology this time will be a completely new challenge,” Tadashi Yamashina, Toyota Motor Corporation Senior Managing Officer and TMG Chairman, said. “We want to write a new page in the history of the Le Mans 24 Hours, as well as in the FIA World Endurance Championship, through our use of hybrid technology.
“In addition, we aim to learn from the experience of competing in such a challenging motorsport environment to enhance our production car technology. Le Mans is a legendary race and I would like to thank the ACO and the FIA for their constructive and positive cooperation over the last few months.”
Geweldig nieuws. Ik ben geen groot fan van hybrid, maar het is altijd nog beter dan diesel.

Geweldig nieuws. Ik ben geen groot fan van hybrid, maar het is altijd nog beter dan diesel.
Hoewel ik ook geen fan van hybride ben, hoop ik dat de uiteindelijke wagen van Toyota weer zo schitterend en memorabel wordt als de GT-One. Of ergens ook maar in de buurt zou voldoende zijn. Zo zonde dat die wagen toen niet de 24-uurs kon winnen. Ze hadden ook wel wat pech...

Goed nieuws. Meer concurrentie is altijd leuk. Hun laatste wagen was echt memorabel. Jammer dat ze uitvielen.

Als ik het goed begrijp, is Customer AMG Sports Team China het de facto fabrieksteam van Mercedes-AMG.
Peugeot stopt met onmiddelijke ingang met Le Mans

"This decision has been taken in the context of a difficult economic environment in Europe," Peugeot said in a statement on Wednesday. "Peugeot has chosen to concentrate resources on its sales performance in 2012."
Le Mans victory in 2009 was Peugeot's greatest success, while last year it won the inaugural Intercontinental Le Mans Cup title ahead of the series' transformation into the World Endurance Championship this year.
The decision to can the programme comes amid declining car sales for the Peugeot group, and will be a major blow to the formative WEC - which had been expected to see a season-long battle between Audi and Peugeot.
Toyota is embarking on a new LMP1 programme but will not contest a full campaign this year, while Porsche's new car will not hit the track until 2014.

Mja eerste jaar kun je niet zoveel van verwachten. Maar inderdaad is het beter dan het eerste decennium Aud dominantie.quote:

Nope, denk het juist niet. Misschien wat meer kans en strijd tussen de teams die nu al jaar na jaar achter audi en peugeot over de finish kwamen. En dan heb ik het nog niet eens over Toyota die wel weer mee doet en ik ga er toch van uit dat die met hun ruime ervaring het heel behoorlijk gaan doenquote:
