Underwater volcano discovered offshore Western AustraliaScientists Back shocked With Underwater Volcano Discovery In Australia – Scientists discover a mysterious volcano in the deep ocean off the west coast of Australia. This discovery is considered quite extraordinary.
Cone-shaped volcano, with a length of 800m and 200m height was found 2 km below sea level, and 100 nautical miles offshore in the Gulf of protected areas of Australia.
The researchers say it’s fortunate discovery, Adelaide Now melaporan.
The scientists came to the Southern Surveyor volcanic fire that is now given the name “Anna Pimple” when mapping the sea floor in the Benthic Protection Zone.
The volcano was named by the students on board.
Chief scientist of Research and Development Institute of South Australia David Currie, said the findings were interesting because the area was thought to have a flat seabed.
“To find something like a volcano poking out of the soft ocean sediments quite extraordinary,” he said.
“And in fact it was quite deep and may have never taken the fish, or being touched by people since being created (48 million years ago) is pretty amazing.
The volcano is probably home to some unique creatures, where the surrounding area has shown a strange animal samples, such as “brittle star” creatures such as starfish.
