Beatles remastered CDs update: Comparing the old and new "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"Before you even get to hear the disc, the newly remastered "Sgt. Pepper" has one benefit: a much snazzier package. The triangle-folding package (see right) is much more multi-dimensional than before.
The booklet is nicer, too. A nice 30-page with lyrics and introduction by Paul McCartney (written June 3, 2008). And Beatle history freaks will appreciate the separate sections with historical information and session information on each song by Mark Lewisohn. Plus there's two pages of notes about the cover by Peter Blake, who photographed it.
As for the music, you notice the difference as soon as the crowd noise begins to build. The difference in a tape generation is definitely noticeable -- the impact of the record is much more powerful and the sound is clearer and cleaner than before. When the handclaps come through in "Getting Better," they snap in your ears under headphones. On "Fixing a Hole," the background vocals are breathtakingly clean, as if a veil has been lifted off them. Ringo's drums on the "Pepper" reprise pop out of the disc.
This is not a new or different album. But it sure sounds a hell of a lot better.

Gaat helemaal goedkomen dus
