quote:Paul Potts
What a difference a year makes. Roll back the clock 12 months you'll remember that the now world famous opera star, Paul Potts, was a humble mobile phone salesman from a small town in Wales. Today, with over 3 million sales of his debut album One Chance in his pocket, he's halfway through a concert tour spanning 13 countries. This unassuming nice-guy looks set for world domination!
Paul's now legendary first audition in Cardiff has been viewed more than 21 million times on YouTube, making it the UK’s most discussed clip of all time! His meteoric rise to fame has even prompted rumours of a Hollywood movie being made about his life...
What can we say about that meteoric rise? Only one thing... Jack-Pott!
Connie Talbot
Since melting the hearts of the nation in series one, Connie has been a busy little 7 year-old. Whilst other kids her age are eating worms in the garden and struggling to tie their shoelaces, Connie has been in the recording studio making a debut album, Over The Rainbow, which has already sold over 100,000 copies!
Connie's dreams keep coming true. She turned the Christmas lights on in Walsall and performed live in Birmingham’s Centenary Square, confirming her place as the rising star of the Midlands.
Those oldies on the judging bench had better watch their backs... Connie's making her way in showbiz so quick she'll be fighting 'em for a place on the panel by the time she's ten!
Bar Wizards
Whoever thought spending so much time in the bar could be so good for you? But the two Neils from Manchester have made a career out of frolicking around with bottles of the hard stuff, in bars and clubs across the globe. Since last year’s Britain’s Got Talent final, the lads have become the faces of the Hellman’s mayonnaise Squeezy campaign, and have continued to wow audiences around the world with their flair bartending skills.
Brimming with more energy than a Pro-Plus and Red Bull cocktail, the boys also run Flair & Mixology training courses, where they pass on their bottle spinning secrets to budding apprentices.
Two parts Bar Wizard to one part British public = a cocktail for success.
Kombat Breakers
When the Kombat Breakers formed in the summer of 1999, none of them could have predicted how far they would take their unique brand of street dancing. In the past year members Leroy B, Tee, Toke’n, Brixton, Sims and Lil’ D have collaborated with pop heavyweights Lemar, Beverley Knight, UB40 and Kele le Roc, and have their sights firmly set on becoming the UK’s number one fusion breakdance group.
Fame and fortune await for the boys from Coventry, but even when that happens, the coolest bit of bling the Kombat Breakers will ever own are the Blue Peter badges that they earned teaching Konnie and the rest of the BP crew how to dance. Re-spect!
Damon Scott
If you thought going around with your hand up a monkey’s bottom wasn’t funny… you were wrong.
Don’t worry, there’s no need to call the RSPCA, we’re not talking animal abuse here, we’re talking Damon Scott. This is the man who entertained the nation with his riotous puppets in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent final; and the true heir to Keith and Orville’s throne.
Since the show Damon has taken his act to various star-studded events and performed alongside household names including Sugababes and Westlife. He has also set up a ‘team-building programme’, called Monkey See Monkey Do, where he teaches workmates and bosses how to bond with each other whilst learning the art of puppeteering.
Bessie Curzons
As soon as she sauntered onto the stage dressed as a Victorian street urchin, it was obvious that young Bessie had the pedigree to make it all the way. A huge favourite with both the fans and the judges, she sang and danced her way through a catalogue of My Fair Lady and Mary Poppins songs, and had Piers proclaiming her as ‘the most naturally gifted’ finalist of series one.
Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication towards her roles did not go unnoticed; and after watching her progress all the way to the grand final, legendary talent spotter Sylvia Young, offered Bessie a place at her world famous stage school. There she will walk in the illustrious footsteps of Denise Van Outen, Amy Winehouse, Billie Piper, and er…Dean Gaffney.
Good luck Bessie!!
